U.S. Sens. Cory Booker and Robert Menendez (both D-N.J.) released the following statements after their bill to rename the Waldwick, New Jersey, post office the "Staff Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine Post Office Building," was signed into law by President Obama.

"Marine Staff Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country," Sen. Booker said. "His loss will always be felt by his family, his community, and our state. By renaming the Waldwick post office in Staff Sgt. D'Augustine's honor, we help ensure that the legacy of his courage, his service, and his sacrifice lives on."

"With the President's signature, Marine Staff Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine's hometown post office in Waldwick will be named in his honor and serve as a lasting tribute to his courage and sacrifice," said Sen. Menendez. "When people walk in and out, they will be reminded of his story and the heroic service of our men and women in uniform who protect and make it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms we have in this country."

The bill honors the legacy of Staff Sergeant Joseph D'Augustine -- a United States Marine and Waldwick native who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012. The House passed their bill in September, and the Senate in May.
